Honda Scooters: Saving Time and Money

Many people try avoiding some traffic and save time by investing in a scooter. The main perks of having a scooter as opposed to a larger vehicle are relatively low maintenance cost and great gas mileage. More expensive scooters have more power and have room for carrying additional loads.

If you're interested in luxury, Honda's Silver Wing which starts at just over $7500 may be the perfect fit. This 600cc scooter has space for luggage and comes in two new colors "Metallic Silver" and "Candy Dark Red." Other scooters whose starting prices range between 5,000 and 8,000 include: the Helix, the Reflex and Reflex ABS. On epinions.com, the Helix was recognized mainly for its unyielding power and speed.

If you have a tight budget, the following Honda scooters are available for under $2,500: Elite 80, Metropolitan, Metropolitan II (check if legal in your state), and the Ruckus. In this group, all are just under 50cc, except for the Elite which is about 80cc. On epinions.com, common complaints with the Elite (approx. $2100) were limited carry-on space and not enough power for steep hills while riding with two people on the scooter.

Many people warned other scooter enthusiasts about riding under wet conditions. Some encountered problems with the plastic body chipping, cracking or falling off after 2-3 years of owning the scooter. (Please note that the prices listed here are recommended by Honda. However, keep in mind that dealers set their own deals and scooter prices may vary depending on the vehicle's color, for example.)
